DisMyth is an AI fact-checking service operated by Spirited World Private Limited (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. We keep it short and plain.

Who we are

What we collect

• Your account — the email address and password you sign up with. Your password is stored securely (hashed) by our authentication provider; we never see it in plain text.
• Claims you check — the text, link or image you submit, and the verdict produced. These are saved so you can see your own history and so the public “recent checks” feed can show examples (your email is never attached to the public feed).
• Approximate location & network info — an approximate region and your IP address, used to show relevant regional context and to enforce fair-use limits (for example, 5 free checks per day). If you tap “use my location”, your device shares a rough area only — never a precise address.
• Basic usage data — standard technical logs (device type, time of a request) needed to run and secure the service.

How your submitted content is processed

To fact-check a claim, the text or image you submit is sent to the AI providers that power DisMyth — currently Anthropic (Claude), OpenAI, xAI (Grok) and Google (Gemini) — and to live web search, so they can assess it against reliable sources. Please do not submit private, confidential or sensitive personal information inside a claim, as it will be sent to these providers for analysis.

How we use your data

• To run the fact-check and show you the verdict.
• To keep your personal check history and let you re-open or share it.
• To show regional context and enforce fair-use limits and prevent abuse.
• To keep the service secure and improve how it works.

We do not sell your personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

What we share

We share data only with the service providers that make DisMyth work — the AI providers listed above (to analyse a claim), our hosting and database providers, and our authentication provider. They process it on our behalf. We may also disclose information if required by law.

Keeping your data & your rights

We keep your account and check history until you ask us to delete them. You can ask us to access or delete your data at any time by emailing hello@dismyth.app — we will delete your account and personal checks on request.

Children

DisMyth is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

If we update this policy we will change the date above and, for significant changes, note it in the app.
